WEEK 1 LESSON: April 6, 2025
G2K: God sent Jesus to save us!
Memory Verse: 2 Peter 3:18a - “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Bible Lesson: Jesus Anointed at Bethany: John 12:1-8; Genesis 3:1-24
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we taught the kids that God sent Jesus to save us! Everyone say AMEN! God sent Jesus to rescue us all and show us how to make things right with God. God sent Jesus to make a way for us back to God. When we believe in Jesus and put our trust in him, we can be close to God again, just like Adam and Eve were in the garden. To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.
Instructions: For this activity, provide each of your kids a terracotta pot (baby food jar or something similar), a permanent marker, paints, stickers and paintbrushes. Using a permanent marker, write the Good to Know on the jar. Have them design their “perfume jars” however they’d like! While your kids are creating, take some time to talk with them about what salvation is and about their relationship with Jesus. What does “being saved” mean to them? What questions do they have about Jesus and his saving work on earth?
Back in Bible times, perfume was most likely stored in clay jars. Jars are great for storing valuable things, and they’re also perfect for adding in a little soil and seeds to grow something wonderful! Let’s take some time to decorate this jar to remember what Mary did in today’s Bible story to show her love and thankfulness. We can do the same because God sent Jesus to save us!
FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.
Read Genesis 3:21. How does this verse show that God still cared for Adam and Eve, even though they had just disobeyed God?
If you could be in a garden with God like Adam and Eve, what would you want to do together?
Mary gave her very best to Jesus. What are some things you could give to Jesus? Is that your very best, or is there more?
