WEEK 2 LESSON: July 13, 2025

WEEK 2 LESSON: July 13, 2025

  • G2K: God can do impossible things.

  • Memory Verse: Ephesians 2:10 - “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”

  • Bible Lesson: Elisha and The Shunammite's Son: 2 Kings 4:8–37; Colossians 1:3–14

WEEKLY CHALLENGE: This week, we taught the kids that God can do impossible things! Sometimes, we hesitate to ask God for impossible things because we don’t want to get our hopes up. But it’s not up to us to decide what God can or can’t do. Nothing is impossible for God. To reinforce this lesson, use this activity.

Instructions: For this activity, you’ll need paintbrushes, along with washi tape, stickers, pipe cleaners, and optional air-dry clay for them to decorate the brush handle. See some worked examples here.

Imagine that this paintbrush is the staff Elisha used to try to bring the Shunammite woman’s son back to life. The staff didn’t do anything, but when Elisha prayed to God, the boy came back to life! Now, decorate this brush in whatever way you’d like to help remember that we can hand over our brush—or staff—to God in any situation, but especially in the ones that seem out of our control. God can do impossible things!

FAMILY TIME: Use these questions to start a conversation with your children about this week’s lesson.

  • Read Colossians 1:13–14. What is the impossible thing that God makes possible in this Scripture?

  • Why is it easy to give up on things that seem impossible?

  • Can you think of a time when something felt impossible at first but then became possible?
