WEEK 4 LESSON: October 25, 2026

G2K: We can obey God above anyone else.

Memory Verse: Psalm 42:8 - "By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me."

Bible Lesson: Life in Egypt After Joseph: Genesis 50:22 - Exodus 1; Psalm 138

WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Joseph’s story came to an end, but God’s people still had a long journey ahead. This week, a new king in Egypt treated the Israelites badly and tried to stop them from growing. But even in hard times, they kept trusting and honoring God first. When we’re not sure what to do, we can obey God above anyone else.

Weekly Challenge Instructions: Have your child create their own depiction of the dawn or sunrise. Fill ice cube trays or cupcake tins with different liquid watercolors and dilute with water. Give them fine paintbrushes or pipettes to paint on paper towels. Leave to dry, then use a glue stick or double-sided tape to add onto construction paper. You can protect your surfaces using more paper towels, plastic tablecloths, or a cookie sheet. See a worked example here.

Every time the sun rises, it signals a new day. That means no matter how awful yesterday had been or if you had a frightening nightmare in your sleep, morning is the time we can hope for things to look up. Place your "dreamy" sunrise art somewhere you can see it the minute you open your eyes each morning. Let it remind you that today is a new day when we can obey God above anyone else!

Bible Questions:

  • How did the Israelites get to Egypt?

  • What did the new king of Egypt do to make the Israelites suffer?

  • Read Psalm 138:7. Why should we obey God even when things get difficult?

  • Aside from God, who are some trusted people you might want to listen to? Why them?
